A short game which I hope gives everyone who plays it a cracking headache! I have one just now having gone over all the moves yet again. Will I ever learn? 1.d4 Nf6 2.Bg5 d5 an old favourite of mine, the Trompovsky 3.Bxf6 exf6 4.e3 c6 5.Bd3 Bd6 6.Qf3 0-0 castling too early? 7.Qh5 not subtle, but effective 7...g6 8.Qh6 the fun starts here! 8...Qb6 9.h4! the race is on 9...Qxb2 10.h5 too late to retreat 10...Qc1+ ouch! was hoping he would grab the rook 11.Ke2 Bg4+ 12.f3 Bg3 13.Nc3! probably the best move I have ever played! I had thought all was lost when I offered the rook on move 10 and he didn't take it? Now I was sure I waswinning 13...Qxa1 14.Nd1 my trusty knight to the rescue 14...Bf4 I missed this reply 15.Qxf4 if anyone can find a forced win at this point for me I would be glad to know it. I am sure I have the win but ..... 15...Bf5 Good defensive move 16.Bxf5 gxf5 17.Qg3+ Kh8 18.Qd6 again, I'm sure I still have the win ..... 18...Re8! I missed this move, threatening Qxd4. I'm a bit concerned now ..... 19.Qxf6+ Kg8 20.h6 Kf8 21.Qd6+ I wasted nearly all of my time looking for the win so ended up drawing the game. As stated earlier, any improvements on the last 5 moves to help get a forced win would be appreciated. It is a very mind numbing position at the end. I now regret looking at this game again as I am back to analysing why I never won this game. Looks like a long night ahead for me yet again. If i can't find the win tonight , this game is going in the bin, never to give me a sore head again!!!! If you get the answer please e-mail me on dawolsey@tiscali.co.uk 1/2-1/2
